The Fall Foliage Train is Leaving New England…
It seems like everything is happening this last fall weekend in October…
The clocks go back one hour. So for once this year we really do have an hour we can waste…
At least until April 2006 when we have to give it back!
If you have kids, then you know the parent’s “torture” night is upon us – or if you don’t have kids Halloween night is the evening you go visit a restaurant, shopping mall, anything to get away from the constant stream of candy seekers – just kidding, I know you wouldn’t do that!
But maybe the most depressing milestone this weekend is… it marks the end of the fall foliage weekends in New England. While some areas such as Boston, Rhode Island coast, Cape Cod, and southern Connecticut, linger in autumn into early November, for most of New England the best will have passed.
Later this week and the weekend, the prediction is sunny and low 50’s – perfect fall weather for that final leaf peeping. After all the weekends of rain and heavy winds it’s a blessing, albeit a little late for those who booked fall vacations for foliage viewing months ago.
The best fall foliage viewing will be southern New England, and there’s a whole bunch of scenic drives in this area, which I’ve detailed in my fall foliage scenic drives in New England free report. To get your hands on a copy click here.
The New England winter train has already left the station and heading our way – parts of Northern Vermont got a taste of snow last weekend – so fill up your car with gas, grab your report and take a drive on Connecticut Route 169, or the Rhode Island Coast drive, or Cape Cod Route 6A, and get your final fall foliage trip in for the season.
Talk to you later in the week,
