How This Year’s Boston Travel Show Can Save You a Truckload of Money…

Passport Image Travel Show BostonThis year’s Boston Travel Show sponsored by The Boston Globe is crammed full of information to not only help you choose your next vacation but to save you gobs of money on it as well.

You can turn a small entry fee into a windfall if you take the trip to the show seriously.

I look forward to this event each year, and not just because I’m a travel writer, but because as a consumer of vacations myself, I want to see what deals are available and the places that are “hot” at the moment.

The show this year is big with 200 exhibitors scheduled to display, and with many exotic destinations covered. Of course New England tourism will be well represented with the states of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont all having booths.

So your first stops should be at destinations that interest you, and to check out the show special travel deals and discounts, and giveaways being offered at many of these destinations.

Another opportunity to save money is leaning from the travel gurus by attending some of the travel seminars being put on throughout the weekend. Seminars with this theme include: “The Ten Great Myths of Travel (and Ten Great Truths)”, “Insider Secrets to Save a Bundle on Your Cruise Vacation”, “Trends in Women’s Travel”, “Travel Agents: Still A Traveler’s Best Friend”, “Travel Safety and Security in an Uncertain World”, and “A New Definition of Luxury Travel” with travel ace Peter Greenberg.

You’ll also be provided family entertainment as performers from many of the destinations will distract and delight you with stage entertainment. Performances include Caribbean Carnivals, singer songwriters from the Maritime Provinces, and dancers from the South Seas.

Included in the show this year is the first-ever “Taste For Travel” event, which will take you on a mouth-watering tour of cuisine from around the globe. You can sample the internationally acclaimed cuisine of Paris and London, the food secrets of New Orleans, the harbor markets of the Caribbean, the delights of the Italian Opera Trail the elegant tables of Japan, and many more international cultures. And if your chosen destination takes you out of the country, the United States Postal Service will be at the show to accept passport applications and take passport photos. You’ll need to be prepared with some documents, and you can check out the requirements along with other show details at the official web site here: www.bostonglobetravelshow.com/public.htm

The show this year is located at the Seaport World Trade Center, and is open to the public for the modest entry fee of $10 (children under 18 admitted free). Dates for general public are:

Saturday, March 24th, 2007 (10:00am-7:00pm)
Sunday, March 25th, 2007 (10:00am-5:00pm)
