New Hiking Resource on the Net

Hiking Cafe Site ImageShort post today.

Readers of my blog posts here will understand that hiking and walking in New England is a passion for me as I write a lot about destinations exploring and enjoying the natural environment of the northeast.

I find most hikers are the same genre as runners and bikers. They’re a great bunch of people who love their recreation and look out for each other. Hikers love to share their best trails and stories and those of others. My friend Rik is no different.

Rik has a hiking and backpacking blog over at www.hikingcafe.com and while he lives in Europe he has a number of trails from North America already at the site. Rik is aiming to create an online hiking destination covering the globe – no small order – but he is handpicking trail stories looking for informative but compelling writing.

If you enjoy hiking and backpackings then I encourage you to visit Rik’s hiking information site and cast a vote for it at any of your social bookmarking sites if you like what you see.

And if you enjoy hiking and have some stories to tell then consider writing for his blog. He has an easy to spot contact page and encourages feedback.

Go Rik!

    Hello Cliff, thank you for the article. I am an avid hiker, and I always enjoy finding new trails and lesser known hiking spots. I just checked out Hikingcafe.com, and it has some good resources on there. Thanks for the heads up!

    Keep up the great work on this blog, it is nice to see a site about the Northeast, we get underappreciated sometimes! :)

    I just tried to check out your friend’s blog and your link led me to.

    jtablesession::Store Failed
    DB function failed with error number 145
    Table ‘./hikingcafe_joomla/jos_session’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired SQL=INSERT INTO `jos_session` ( `session_id`,`time`,`username`,`gid`,`guest`,`client_id` ) VALUES ( ’8ofj8lrbumka3605mi2kfjj0e4′,’1312166044′,”,’0′,’1′,’0′ )

    His blog sounds interesting and I will be trying to get back to it later thanks.

    I need to plan a trip for a charity function to New England. I do not even know where to begin. Can you give me some advice and information. The trip will begin from Cleveland. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Gale,

    Can you be a bit more specific on what information you’re seeking? I’m not sure where to begin either.

    Chris – I sent the owner an email awhile ago and he hasn’t responded – a sure sign it’s AWOL and not likely to return.
