Get Rid of the Winter Blues at one of these New England Winter Carnival
My stocks have fallen into Tuckerman Ravine – my retirement plan has dropped to 40-below, and the jobless rates have all hit a 15-year low. So I was looking for a bright spot this week. I thought what we all need is a carnival to brighten the spirits!
But then I remembered it is winter. Wait a minute. How about a… New England Winter Carnival?
So I scouted around and lo and behold I came up with a bunch of them that are happening over the next month as we go through not only the recession but traditionally one of the snowiest and coldest months of the winter.
So if the economy has got you down or your investment portfolio has tanked then take a weekend off from the doom and gloom media, and visit one of these winter carnivals near you, and put a smile back into your portfolio – at least for a few hours.

A Winterfest is a wonderful idea. However the Camden event is verrrry small. (don’t blink – it will be over) In the neighboring town …. The Rockland Winterfest is fun and lasts longer than a blink of the eye. Or better yet is the US Tobboggan Nationals in Camden on Feb 7. Details are at http://www.camdensnowbowl.com
Thanks for the iedas! We’ll head to NH!

I discovered another Winter Fest today and that is the Amherst Winter Fest scheduled for Saturday February 7th, 2009. This is part of a year long of festivities planned for celebrating the town’s 250th birthday.
Amherst is a college town in Western Massachusetts perhaps most famous as the birthplace of Emily Dickinson.
For more information about the events planned for 2009 including the Winter Fest check out the organizer’s web site at http://www.amherst250.org

Well, the winter carnivals keep cropping up as I bounce around New England looking for events to report on.
This next one is the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom at Island Pond just a stones throw from the Canadian border.
On February 6th-8th Island Pond puts on its winter fest which includes: snow sculpture competition, bonfire, ice skating, snowmobile tours, ice fishing, sled racing, spaghetti dinner, and of course beach winter volleyball?
