If you’re looking for something festive to do with the kids this weekend in the Boston area then head out to Saugus and take in the Kaleidoscope Children’s Theatre.

The show is Little Red’s Christmas and is at North Shore Musical Theatre, Saugus at 2:00pm on Sunday December 20^th, 2009. You can purchase tickets online for $13 or $12 at the door.

Kaleidoscope Theatre is a professional touring children’s theatre company based in Cranston, Rhode Island.  Although primarily a children’s theatre company with a school touring program and personal birthday parties, they also offer a variety of dinner theatre shows for adults.

The theatre has been in existence for 32 years and in addition to Boston and RI performances it also tours Cape Cod with shows at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis.

“The troop specializes in fairy tale musicals. Since 1982 Kaleidoscope Theatre has been delighting audiences throughout New England with their fresh, light-hearted take on the traditional fairy tales. Full of music and laughter, colorful costumes and zany characters, these musicals keep the whole family entertained!

Kaleidoscope Theatre was founded in 1977 to create and perform educational theatrical plays and workshops for participation with students of elementary, middle, junior and senior high schools, clubs and organizations.

Kaleidoscope Theatre creates the opportunity for talented young people to develop theatrical abilities by encouraging participation in the production and performance of theatrical plays. The goal of each performance is to educate and entertain young people through the medium of presentational and participatory drama.

Kaleidoscope Theatre incorporates many of its theatrical topics to address youth educational issues such as drug dependence, drug prevention and elimination issues, teen pregnancy, divorce, deafness, as well as mainstreaming (inclusion) both in schools and in society.”
