Boston Gliders Offers Tours of Boston on a Segway – Join the Fun

Boston Segway Tour ImageIf you’re looking for a different way of experiencing Boston on you next visit then check out Boston Gliders for Segway fun and adventure.

When they were first introduced, the Segway Personal Transporter (Segway PT) was going to revolutionize the way pedestrians got around but it didn’t happen – but they did find their own niche. Getting people around quickly in high traffic cities is one of the jobs they do well, and it seems like a natural role for them to take on the task of helping you tour Boston.

Boston Gliders runs the Segway tours and it’s risen to be one of the top 10 things to do in Boston according to the Tripadvisor community. Segways are easy to learn and fun to ride and they can go where the tour buses and bikes can’t – along the walkways and paths of scenic Boston.

Tours are available in Boston, Cambridge and Charlestown for 60 minutes at $60, two hours for $85 or the fully loaded 3-hour version for $125.

Routes covered include the Boston harbor and seaport area along with Rose Kennedy Walkway, and the longer excursions include Freedom Trail, Boston Common, Bunker Hill, and of course the North End.

There’s only one restriction and that is a minimum weight of 100 lbs – so if you’re a super model or have small kids you’ll probably be biking instead of Segway-ing!

Boston Gliders is an energetic group of operators dedicated to providing you a unique experience of Boston and they don’t want you to miss a moment of the sights and sounds of Beantown. Don’t worry about snapping photos while steering and navigating around pavements, Boston Glider “Adventure Captains” – as they call their tour leaders – are equipped with a HD wireless camera to catch all the precious moments for you. You can then get a photo DVD to take home.

All the equipment you need is included in the tour price – just bring your sense of fun and ability to handle people staring at you because they’re envious of your Segway mobility.

I live in Boston and see these things all over the place. Especially in the Financial District and Boston Commons.

A Segway tour really is a great way to see a new city. It’s quicker than walking and more interactive than a bus tour or just driving around. We’ve done one in Chicago and will plan to look up Boston Gliders when we come to New England this summer! Thanks for the info!
