Block Island Vacations – Memories Are Made of This…
I’ve wanted to write about a place I visited a few years ago for the longest time. You know how it is… I kept starting to write and then something distracted me and before you know where you are you’ve got married and raising kids!
Wow! How did that happen!
But the good news is that this weekend I finally got around to it. What’s the special place?
The place is Block Island, Rhode Island. It’s a gem of an Island about 12 miles off the south coast of Rhode Island. It’s small – 11 square miles in total. But you should see what’s packed into this tiny area!
It’s a nature lover’s paradise… and cyclists dream. And there’s no better place to get away from it all.
And here’s why…
While the Block Island residents enjoy and welcome visitors and vacationers, they protect their environment very actively. You’ll not find any fast food restaurants or malls, or even many cars.
The favorite forms of transport are either taxi or bike, or the ol’ shoe leather!
The island has 17 miles of beaches, two vintage lighthouses, the Block Island National Wildlife Refuge, famous Mohegan Bluffs, and…
But wait… I’m spoiling it for you.
