Last Chance For Apple Pickings Here…
This is the last in the series of “Pick Your Own” farms in New England.
And as the season is winding down it’s probably one of the last weekends you’ll be able to take a bag and pluck the ripe fruit yourself.
I have a lot of states to cover today so I’ll get straight into it, but stay tuned for some great apple recipe resources I found as I researched for this article.
Rhode Island
Rhode Island Fruit Growers Association – This contains links to all the apple picking locations in Rhode Island with maps, phone numbers, and hours of operation.
Vermont
Vermont Apple Marketing Board – This site contains a nifty clickable image map of Vermont where you can choose a county to view all the orchards in that area. I had fun finding an orchard using this tool. You’ll also discover all about the history of growing apples in Vermont.
New Hampshire
Pick Your Own New Hampshire – Privately owned site so check before you leave on availability of picking apples, especially late in the season.
Maine
Maine Apple Orchards - George Stilphen’s site where he lists a number of pick your own apple orchards, together with remarkable details of all the apple varieties ever grown in Maine.
Apple Recipe Resources:
Among these resources you’ll find traditional apple pie recipes, and a few “I didn’t know you could do that with an apple?”

That’s all for today as I’ve got to get the van ready for our apple picking trip this weekend after soccer and before it rains… again!
Happy picking,
