Stop the Press! Cupid is Exploring New England for Romantic Getaways

Valentine New England GetawayI’ve discovered from my contacts throughout the region that Cupid is looking for special locations for romantic winter getaways in New England. It appears Cupid is particularly interested in places that pamper and lavish TLC on its visitors.

With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away Cupid is busy sending out New England getaway suggestions using his stock-in-trade bow and arrows. Thanks to the super-sleuthing of my contacts I can share the names of a few of the special destinations and resorts on his list – just in case Cupid doesn’t make it to you in time with these popular resorts.

Litchfield Hills of Northwest Connecticut

The Inn at Thorn Hill – Jackson, New Hampshire

When the snow is thick and the air is crisp there’s no better place to be in New Hampshire than cuddling with the one you love in a sleigh-ride through the fields of Jackson village. In the heart of the White Mountains the inn is picture postcard perfect for your romantic winter getaway.

Fireplaces, Jacuzzis, steam showers, wet bars, mountain views and antiques are found in guest rooms, suites and cottages. Spa facilities for massage, hydro-massage, facials, rubs and wraps. Starting at $200-$300. 603-383-4242.

Cliffside Inn – Newport, Rhode Island

The ocean air and staggeringly beautiful rocky coastline make Newport a popular destination for winter getaways for couples seeking solitude at the seaside. The celebrated Cliffside Inn is the former home of Beatrice Turner, a legendary Newport artist, and close to Newport’s Cliff Walk, beaches, and famous mansions. The inn is a rare blend of modern amenities such as whirlpools and steam baths, and Victorian elegance of design and decoration.

The Cliffside Inn has an AAA Four Diamond rating. Rooms from $175. 401-847-1811.

Jackson House Inn – Woodstock, Vermont

Located in the Green Mountains and close to winter outdoor activities lies picturesque Woodstock. Famous for its Covered Bridge and village green, this is perfect Getaway Country in New England.

The Jackson House Inn & Restaurant blends the elegance and charm of a country manor with a modern boutique inn. Room decor range from classic New England-style guest rooms to spacious modern suites. The Valentine Day package goes way beyond the “box-of-chocolates-on-the-pillow” standard fare. The package is for 2 and includes: 2 nights lodging, wine reception each evening, seven-course gourmet dinner, breakfast each day, and a bottle of vintage champagne delivered to your room.

Valentine Day packages for two people start at $800. 802-457-2065

Of course any of these places make great weekend getaways any time of the year, but especially as a special celebration of spending the Valentine period with the one you love. You deserve it – both of you!
