The Freedom Road Rally Comes to New England
If you’re traveling along the backroads of New England between June 3rd and June 9th and happen to see a motorcade of antique cars, then there’s a good chance you’ve discovered the…
Freedom Road Rally as it passes through New England states on the journey of a lifetime.
This annual event is a fun experience and a rare chance for antique car owners to participate in a touring road rally, and also provide a wonderful opportunity for people in the state to tag along or just admire at a distance these wonderful cars.
Owners of these cars take great pride in keeping them not only in tip-top condition but looking better than new, and jump at the opportunity of not only parading their cars but also taking in a rare and special vacation experience.
The Freedom Road Rally will start and end in Bennington, Vermont, an historic town located on the edge of the Green Mountain National Forest. The rally will last 7 days and cover over 1,200 miles using pre-1974 vehicles.
In addition to traveling some of the prettiest roads on the East Coast, participants will also be viewing some of the finest transportation museums and collections in the country.
The event will travel through Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. It will be stopping for the night in Bangor on June 5th and then be visiting the Cole Transportation Museum the morning of June 6th.
Highlights of the tour include: the oldest lighthouse in the United States, the turning point in the American Revolution, and the ultimate ice cream stop. The overall style of the event will be similar to the vintage European road rallies, where the overall goal is to see fantastic sites through the day and to enjoy the evening’s festivities.
There’s still a chance to sign-up for the event by calling the organizers at 937 498-0748 or visiting the official web site at http://www.freedomroadrally.com/
The week long event provides the ideal car enthusiasts dream vacation by experiencing some of America’s beautiful countryside, visiting and staying in exciting and charming cities, and creating memories for both participants and those who come out to encourage and admire the classic cars of yesteryears.
My thanks to Jessica Taylor of the Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau for alerting me to this unique and special June event – http://www.bangorcvb.org/
